Project Title: Functionalization of Empty Fullerenes for Solar Cells Applications and Asymmetric Synthesis of Endohedral Fullerenes
Project Description: Design and syntheses of novel donor-acceptor fullerene-based compounds for potential applications in organic solar cells as interfacial layers to improve collection of free charge carriers at the electrodes and therefore, increase device efficiency. On the other hand, asymmetric syntheses of endohedral fullerenes is being explored through electrochemical activation of the least reactive cages whereas under general reaction conditions reactivity is a limiting factor.
